November is Native American Heritage Month

The Native American Heritage Month display at the Flower Mound Public Library.

November is Native American Heritage Month! It’s aimed at calling attention to the cultures, traditions, and achievements of the nation’s original inhabitants and descendants. To commemorate the month, the Flower Mound Public Library is featuring books written by and about Native Americans and their cultures.

Additionally, you can observe the month during the Denton County Office of History and Culture’s traveling museum exhibit. The exhibit, called “Native American Texans,” is at the Flower Mound Public Library on Monday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. It examines the history and migration of six Native American tribes in Texas, with an emphasis on each tribe’s culture and lifestyle. The presentation also discusses the impact of European colonization and the settlement of Texas on Native American tribes. This program is appropriate for ages 8 and older, and registration is required.
