New Art Display in Flower Mound Town Hall

The new Town Hall art display.

There's a new art display in Flower Mound's Town Hall. As an American contemporary artist, Erin Newton uses oil on canvas to explore the phenomena of non-verbal communication through art. She picks her subject matter with the everyman in mind in order to pinpoint a moment of calm connectivity with the viewer in an otherwise fast-paced world.

To create this group of work, Erin began by painting all her canvases black and then slowly adding back in light and negative space. These pieces are meant to celebrate the passing seasons and the journey out of darkness toward light. Erin says she hopes her paintings create a meditative and appreciative moment in the daily parade of life for all who see them. Thanks for loaning your masterpieces to us, Erin!

If you’d like to see the paintings in person, visit Town Hall (2121 Cross Timbers Rd.) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, until the end of November. All art displayed on the Town Hall art wall is chosen by the Art Selection Committee, comprised of Town staff and Cultural Arts Commission members. For information on the program, selection criteria, and how to submit artwork for consideration, please visit
