Russian Pianist to Perform with the Lewisville Lake Symphony

Russian pianist Simon KarakulidiSimon Karakulidi, Grand Prize Winner of the 2021 Lewisville Lake Symphony International Piano Competition, will perform Prokofiev’s “Piano Concerto No. 2” with the orchestra on Friday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lewisville Grand Theater in Old Town Lewisville.

Karakulidi was born in Siberia and educated in the Russian piano tradition. He moved to the United States in 2016 to study with Van Cliburn Competition gold medalist Stanislav Ioudenitch. He has won numerous competitions in both Russia and the United States. He will be pursuing his Master of Arts degree at the Yale School of Music in the fall.

Also on the concert program is Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony.” Patrons have the choice for this concert to attend in person, following safety protocols, or to hear the concert livestreamed.
