We’re here to help with your questions about property tax payments, obtaining or renewing a driver’s license, vehicle registration, passports, marriage licenses, birth certificates, voter registration, and toll tags. Here is a quick reference tool to help guide you to the right place.

Your County Courthouse 

At your county courthouse, you can receive information regarding the following services:

  • Marriage licenses
  • Birth/death certificates
  • Plat recordings
  • DBA’s
  • Passports

Denton, Flower Mound, and Frisco locations are open to the public for plat recordings and marriage licenses by appointment to Denton County residents only.  All other recording/vitals processes can be managed remotely with the links and information on their respective websites. Doing Business As (DBA)/Assumed Names: DBAs are by appointment only. Visit to schedule an appointment.

Birth and Death Certificates: To receive a certified copy of birth and death certificates, please call to schedule an appointment. Visit for more details.

Passports: Passport services are available by appointment only.  Appointments can only be scheduled up to three days in advance. Visit for more information.

Please expect significant processing delays in passport operations. All expedited services are suspended at this time, unless there is a life-or-death emergency. For additional information, please visit the U.S. Department of State’s website. Due to the unprecedented impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, specific updates on when you will receive your passport and supporting documents is not feasible. 

Passport Photo Services: Passport photo services are being offered. Please note, you will be asked to remove your facemask for your photo. Accommodations have been made so social distancing requirements can be maintained while your facemask is briefly removed. Staff taking photos will be wearing facemasks and face shields.

Please review photo requirements at the U.S. Department of State’s website. There, you will find helpful tips and “Photo Tools” should you choose to take and print your own photo prior to your appointment. Photos must be printed on matte or glossy photo paper.

The last day to register to vote for the November 3 Election is Monday, October 5. For early voting and Election Day voting locations, please visit

Texas Department of Public Safety

Driver’s License testing (including driving tests), renewal, and identification card services are by appointment only, through the Texas Department of Public Safety. To make an appointment, visit Walk-in appointments will be available on a limited basis at all driver license office locations.

If you are having difficulty scheduling an appointment on a preferred day, all DL offices have a limited number of same-day appointments available on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers who book these appointments at the office can then leave and return at their designated appointment time.

Please note, if your Texas DL, ID, CLP, CDL, or EIC card expired on or after March 13, 2020, your card is still valid, and you are not required to renew at this time.

A waiver has been granted for the expiration date of your card that remains valid for 60 days after the Department provides further public notice that normal operations have resumed. You may download a copy of the Verification of Driver License Expiration Extension (PDF) notice here. All local and state law enforcement officials have been notified of this expiration waiver. When the Department resumes normal operations, you will be able to renew without any penalty.
