Ronald “Gunny” Wasilewski was born in 1945 in Shipman, Illinois, and joined the U.S. Marine Corps 20 years later in 1965. In 1986, he ended his successful, 21-year military career as a well-decorated Gunnery Sergeant. During his service, Ronald earned multiple awards for his gracious years of service, including during the Vietnam War.
In 2006, Ronald and his wife, Christine, moved to Flower Mound and quickly set down roots, becoming faithful members of the Lamb of God Lutheran Church. Ronald was a proud Marine, but nothing made him prouder than his family. He had a loving wife, two daughters, 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Mayor France posthumously presented Ronald’s family with a Hometown Hero Proclamation and banner.
