The Essential Bat
Ages 10 and above. Did you know there are over 1,000 different bat species? Learn how bats impact the planet in the next “Wild About Flower Mound” event (sponsored by The Flower Mound Foundation) on Thursday, January 10 at 7 p.m. at the Library. Wildlife Rehabilitator and Bat World Sanctuary’s Vice President of Operations Kate Rugroden will explore the myths and mysteries that surround some of Earth’s most misunderstood animals. Buzzing Bumblebees: Geared toward children who are not yet walking, this class will encourage babies to explore the world of language and develop motor skills through books, songs, rhymes and related activities. Buzzing Bumblebees meets on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. Registration is not required

Wiggly Walkers: A new class designed for “new walkers” (those who are just starting to walk and still require some assistance) up to the age of two. Wiggly Walkers encourages tots to build early literacy skills through music, books, and rhyme. This class meets Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.

Romping Rhymers: Two and three year olds will have a rollicking time reading, singing, and dancing while continuing to build literacy skills at Romping Rhymers on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m.

Leaping Learners: Children ages three to five will share books, sing songs, and develop group listening skills in this class designed as a launch pad to reading. Leaping Learners meets Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m.

Monthly Children's Programs

Monthly events meet as noted.

Babies ages 0-18 months. This is an opportunity for parents, caregivers, grandparents, and their baby to join others in experiencing a variety of sensory play areas including building boxes, art activities, shakers, and much more! This program meets on the second Friday of each month (except August) from 11:15-12:15 p.m.
2018-2019 dates: September 14, October 12, November 9, December 14, January 11, February 8, March 8, April 12, and May 10.

Gaming Unplugged
Join fellow gamers for an afternoon of chess, table-top games and role-playing games on the second Sunday of the month from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Games will be provided, or you may bring your own. All ages welcome.
2018-2019 dates: September 9, October 14, November 11, December 9, January 13, February 11, March 11, April 14, and May 12.

Family Storytime
Stories, music, rhyme, crafts, and snacks for families with young children (60 minutes). Registration not required. This program meets on the third Wednesday of each month (except August) from 7-8 p.m.
2018-2019 dates: September 19, October 17, November 14, December 19, January 16, February 19, March 19, April 17, and May 15.

Firecracker Book Club
Book discussion and related activities for children in grades 3-5 only. Reservations required for groups of eight or more; call 972.874.6167. A limited number of books will be available to borrow at each meeting. This program meets on the second Tuesday of each month, September-May at 4:00-5:00 p.m. Book titles will be announced after the September get together.
