HarpEssence Concert

Come explore music and motion when HarpEssence, an ensemble of four concert grand harps, performs at 7 p.m. at the Library on Wednesday, July 24. The interactive program will keep you moving with music from classical to modern ages. Attendees will learn about the harp, and even try playing one! Registration is not required to attend. Raptors of Texas

Join us for a close-up view of magnificent animals during the "Raptors of Texas" program, presented by The Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31 at the Library. This family-friendly program will showcase hawks, owls, and falcons that call Flower Mound home. Tickets are free but required for admission, and will be issued on a first-come, first served basis beginning at 9 a.m. on show day, July 31. Buzzing Bumblebees: Geared toward children who are not yet walking, this class will encourage babies to explore the world of language and develop motor skills through books, songs, rhymes and related activities. Buzzing Bumblebees meets on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. Registration is not required

Wiggly Walkers: A new class designed for “new walkers” (those who are just starting to walk and still require some assistance) up to the age of two. Wiggly Walkers encourages tots to build early literacy skills through music, books, and rhyme. This class meets Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.

Romping Rhymers: Two and three year olds will have a rollicking time reading, singing, and dancing while continuing to build literacy skills at Romping Rhymers on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m.

Leaping Learners: Children ages three to five will share books, sing songs, and develop group listening skills in this class designed as a launch pad to reading. Leaping Learners meets Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m.

Monthly Children's Programs

Monthly events meet as noted.

Babies ages 6-18 months. This is an opportunity for parents, caregivers, grandparents, and their baby to join others in experiencing a variety of sensory play areas including building boxes, art activities, shakers, and much more! This program meets on the second Friday of each month (except August) from 11:15-12:15 p.m.
2019 dates: January 11, February 8, March 8, April 12, May 10, June 14, and July 12.

Gaming Unplugged
Join fellow gamers for an afternoon of chess, table-top games and role-playing games on the second Sunday of the month from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Games will be provided, or you may bring your own. All ages welcome.
2019 dates: January 13, February 11, March 11, April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, October 13, November 10, and December 8.

Family Storytime
Stories, music, rhyme, crafts, and snacks for families with young children (60 minutes). Registration not required. This program meets on the third Wednesday of each month (except August) from 7-8 p.m.
2019 dates: January 16, February 20, March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, and July 17.

Firecracker Book Club
Book discussion and related activities for children in grades 3-5 only. Reservations required for groups of eight or more; call 972.874.6167. A limited number of books will be available to borrow at each meeting. This program meets on the second Tuesday of each month, September-May at 4:00-5:00 p.m. Book titles will be announced after the September get together.
