'Distressed Communities Index' Reveals Flower Mound Anything But Distressed


Economic Innovation Group, a bipartisan public policy organization, recently released its 2017 Distressed Communities Index, and Flower Mound was recognized for being anything but distressed. In fact, the Town ranked No. 1 most prosperous in the small and mid-sized cities category, with a distress score of 0.1 percent. The study measured the economic vitality of communities nationwide based on several “distress factors” including education, poverty, housing vacancy rate, the percent of non-working adults, the percent of frequent employment changes, changes in the number of businesses in an area, and the median income ratio. The higher the score, the more distressed the given area is; the lower the score, the more prosperous. The No.1 most distressed city small and mid-sized cities was determined to be Youngstown, OH with a city distress score of 99.9 percent. View the full study by visiting:
