YMCA Hosts Diabetes Prevention Program Orientation at Library

Diabetes Prevention NEWSFLASH

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 86 million people have pre-diabetes, and only about 9 million are aware of it. On Monday, August 14 at 1 p.m. the YMCA will host a Diabetes Prevention Program Orientation at the Flower Mound Public Library, located at 3030 Broadmoor Lane. This program introduction will outline how to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles by eating better, increasing physical activity, and losing weight to reduce your diabetes risk through lifestyle coaching sessions, private weekly weigh-ins, nutrition counseling, and more. Eligibility restrictions do apply; applicants must be 18-years or older, overweight, with a BMI>25, prediabetic with a blood glucose level between 100 and 125, and an A1c level between 5.7 and 6.4.
