VoteThe Town of Flower Mound and The Lewisville Independent School District (LISD) will hold elections from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. Flower Mound voters will have the opportunity to vote for the positions of Mayor, Place Two Councilmember, and Place Four Councilmember. LISD voters will elect School Board Trustees for Place Six and Place Seven, and consider two bond propositions.

An Eco Friendly, community, Flower Mound is celebrating Earth Day 2008 by launching a new Go Green Web page that will encourage residents and businesses to take proactive steps to improve the environment.

Fire Department to Host Storm Spotting Class

The Flower Mound Fire Department will host a storm spotter class at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20 at Central Fire Station, 3838 Forums Drive.



CodeRED Assistance Phone Line

Flower Mound’s new CodeRED sign up assistance phone line provides general information about the CodeRED Emergency Notification System and a step-by-step guide on how to sign up alternative phone numbers via the Town’s Web site. The phone line can be accessed by calling 972.874.6555 and additional information regarding CodeRED is available at www.flower-mound.com.



Flower Mound EMS Turns 20

The Flower Mound Emergency Medical Services Division recently celebrated its 20th anniversary of providing excellent emergency medical services to Flower Mound residents, neighbors, and visitors. The EMS Division received its first call for service on April 1, 1988.



FMPD to Hold Junior Police Academy

The Flower Mound Police Department will hold two sessions of the Junior Police Academy this summer for students entering the eighth grade in the fall of 2008.



Congratulations to the Winning Nature Photographs

Congratulations to all of the nature photography contest winners, and a big thank you to all who participated! Many great entries were received, and picking the winners was not an easy task. Judging the winners was a great way to celebrate Earth Day 2008, as the entries captured the beauty of the environment. In addition to the Web site, the winning photographs will be displayed at the Flower Mound Library, 3030 Broadmoor Lane.



Severe Weather and Outdoor Warning Siren Information

Learning to prepare for and respond to severe weather is a reality for those living in North Texas. When severe weather happens, it is imperative that an action plan is in place and every resident has a clear understanding of the Outdoor Early Warning System’s siren alerts.



Town Accepting Applications for Community Support Funding

The Town of Flower Mound is currently accepting applications for its Community Support program. Non-profit organizations wishing to apply for funding should do so by downloading and completing the application.

The Town of Flower Mound encourages residents to sign up alternative phone numbers with the CodeRED Emergency Notification System.



Spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection - Residents South of Cross Timbers Rd.

The Town of Flower Mound will host a Household Hazardous Waste event from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 at Gerault Park, 1200 Gerault Road, for residents living south of Cross Timbers Road. Residents living north of Cross Timbers will have the opportunity to dispose of their hazardous waste in the fall. For more information, call 972.874.6333.



Oil and Natural Gas Drilling Information

Flower Mound’s first Oil and Gas Well Drilling ordinance was adopted in May 2003 and the Town’s current ordinance was adopted in May 2007. The ordinance included provisions addressing safety, noise levels, setbacks, and environmental impacts. Considered one of the most stringent in North Texas, the ordinance was used by several cities as a template in the creation of other municipal Oil and Gas Well Drilling ordinances. Electronic Waste and Document Shredding Event

The Town will host Flower Mound Recycles Day, an electronic waste and document shredding event from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 at Gerault Park, 1200 Gerault Road.
